The Urban Ninja Project Team
Ninja Warrior Games Chicago Winners!

Urban Ninja Project = UNP = Our new name!

If you’re looking down at the Ninja Warrior Games t-shirt that you’ve most likely been wearing every day since our last event at Dog House Crossfit in Chicago, you’re probably wondering, “UNP? What happened to NWG?”

We are changing our name because we feel ‘urban’ and ‘project’ better describe our mission which aims to make our lives more connected with one another in our urban environment while pursuing a variety of projects not limited to just competition, but inclusive of learning & play. Plus we’ll avoid any legal issues with the trademark Ninja Warrior.

Don’t worry, Facebook and Twitter follows will auto-update and hey, your old t-shirts still look cool and may become collector’s items!

Review of Event 1 at Dog House CrossFit

What happened at the Dog House Nov. 10-11 was nothing short of spectacular. Young and old, nimble and newbie all came together for the love of movement to learn and express their playful and competitive spirits.

The feedback from participants and coaches was overwhelmingly positive about the workshops, the quality of coaching, the obstacle courses and the overall event. We’re so thankful to now call each of you our partners in putting on what was a one-of-a-kind event.

Workshops & Coaches

We feel that the workshop portion of the day is what made the playful and competitive spirit come alive through coaching that was truly top-notch. People were stepping out of their comfort zones, expressing all sorts of joy in a safe, supportive and energized environment. We’ve heard of a many of you taking their classes! You can find a list of the coaches and their contact info on the website!

Thank You

The event would not have been manageable by just the core group of planners without some amazing volunteers before, during and after the weekend. Did you know that this group of guys stayed after the event until 2 a.m. helping us break down and clean? Big Thanks to all our volunteers!

The Next Urban Ninja Challenge!!!

Get out your calendars and set your alarms. We will be building a new 2-person obstacle course for a weekend of greatness February 9-10, 2013 at CrossFit Rise in Schaumburg, IL. This time, we’ll have 36 different movement skills workshops on Saturday. Our multi-level obstacle course will be on Sunday where two people will go head-to-head on an identical course. We’ll also have hot food this time!
In order to make the numbers work, we will be utilizing Kickstarter for sign-ups so that we can make sure we get the required $4,000 funding for all systems to be a ‘go’. You will receive a separate email about that!

Promotion

We need your help to promote the event so that we can hit our minimum to make it happen. Here’s how:
  • You can help us by posting the Kickstarter site where ever you can (We’ll be sending a seperate email with links)
  • Put up the poster at your gym/work/store/building
  • Mention us in your social networks, and talk about the event with your friends and family.
  • Come to the UNP demos at local malls and cheer us on or participate! Dates will be posted on the website. If you’re interested in participating email jeff@richmond.urbanninjaproject.com.
